Accommodation
Student accommodation is being let on a weekly basis, please see the link to the various student halls of residence around the Holloway Campus. It is easier to book them during the summer vacation, but because the teaching ends end of April with examinations in May, some rooms may be available in the week before Easter which falls into a two weeks teaching-free period. Another possibility is a variety of short stay accommodation which can be from one to several days. A competitively priced neat hotel near the university can be found here.
Otherwise please use the most convenient hotel booking sites www.hotels.com and www.booking.com to locate a hotel or other accommodation near the conference site, or anywhere along the dark blue Piccadilly line. The underground station for the conference site is Holloway Station, and the address is 166-220 Holloway Road, N7 8DB.
The underground network, bus and rail transport and other up-to-date info on transport can be found on the Transport for London Website.
Tips: In London, all kinds of accommodation are available, from small B&B and apartments to a middle-of-the road hotel chain to upmarket hotels. It also depends on whether you want to come with a partner or family, stay over Easter and get them accommodated somewhere leafy or central. The one that the university recommends is a budget hotel. Hotels near Finsbury Park in Seven Sisters Road are within the vicinity of the university, some with a view on the park, but rooms in old buildings often do not have the same standards as new builds. If you wanted to go upmarket, the Russell hotel in Bloomsbury has been recently refurbished and it is also not far. Best is to look at the photos and the customer evaluations in order to avoid dingy locations, not in terms of stars, but what they are actually saying. On the two big hotel booking sites booking.com and hotels.com there is almost always a discounted rate available for upfront payments, but you can also pay when you visit after your stay. Please note although the town is very large with an abundance of accommodation, the conference takes place in the Easter period. The competitively priced value-for-money tariffs are always the first to be booked out.
