Structure and Nature of the Event

Similar to the previous conferences in Lucerne (2008), in Vienna (2011), and in Berlin (2015), the conference in Basel will establish an open process. This way the conference aims to represent the whole spectrum of the research on law and to encourage the networking of researchers across various disciplines.

This series of conferences was initiated by the Netzwerk Recht & Gesellschaft  (Network Law & Society). Around 200 to 300 researchers from law, political science, sociology and a wide range of other disciplines based in all of the three countries attended the previous conferences.
Participants have the opportunity to discuss the main theme in individual or several working groups (Sessions) in the thematic tracks, but individual papers can be submitted in the area of interdisciplinary legal research (General Papers), too.
A programme committee, which consists of representatives of the organising institutions, coordinates the thematic tracks. After completion of a peer review process the track leaders will select the best individual submissions. Umbrella plenaries of the multiple tracks will focus on the conference theme as well. The conference language is German, but presentations in English and French are welcome.
