GETTING TO VENICE BY PLANE (1)

ARRIVAL AT “MARCO POLO” VENICE AIRPORT (VCE)

From the airport, you can reach Mestre or Venice (Piazzale Roma) by land (on a bus or taxi) or take the water route to Venice (Alilaguna boat or water taxi).

PUBLIC BUSES

Piazzale Roma is the only place in Venice that can be reached by car or bus.

To reach Piazzale Roma from “Marco Polo” Airport, we suggest you take ACTV bus no. 5 or ATVO Aerobus Venezia Express. The cost of the ticket is €8 one-way or €15 round-trip. The bus takes approx. 30 minutes from the airport to the bus stop in “Piazzale Roma”.

Where can you purchase tickets at the Airport?

  • at the public transport ticket office AT the arrivals hall
  • from the ticket machines in the baggage claim area near carousels 3 or 5 or at the bus stops
  • on board ATVO line buses (with an extra charge)

CAR TAXI SERVICE

There are many options for car taxi service from “Marco Polo” Airport to Piazzale Roma. Ask the taxi staff before getting on board for more details on the fare that will be applied. Click on the following links for some taxi companies’ contact details:

PUBLIC WATER TRANSPORTATION by “ALILAGUNA”

A water bus transport service is available from the airport docks to Venice and the main Venetian islands (Murano, Burano, Lido).

The water bus transport service is provided by Alilaguna.

Alilaguna” water-bus prices: one way €15, round-trip €27.

The water bus stops in Venice are San Marco, Rialto, Fondamenta Nove, and Guglie (different routes). 

Journey time: Fondamenta Nove (40 minutes), Lido (60 minutes), San Marco (1 hour and 15 minutes), Rialto (60 minutes), Guglie (40 minutes).

Where can you buy tickets for an “Alilaguna” water bus?

  • from the public transport ticket office at the arrivals hall, desk 8, or from the one at the docks (darsena) desk D;
  • from the ticket machines at the baggage claim near carousels 3 or 5
  • on board the “Alilaguna” water buses.

Where can you take an “Alilaguna” water bus?

  • at the Airport: follow the light blue signs that say "Water Transport" and reach the Terminal on the 1st Floor. There you will find the Moving Walkway, an elevated pedestrian path, that will lead you to the dock;
  • in Venice: at the “Alilaguna” water bus stops of San Marco, Rialto, Fondamenta Nove, and Guglie.

WATER TAXI SERVICE

You can arrange a private water taxi for transfers to/from “Marco Polo” Airport. You can get directly to your hotel by water taxi and it takes about 30 minutes to reach Venice. ARRIVAL AT “ANTONIO CANOVA” AIRPORT IN TREVISO (TSF)

PUBLIC BUSES

Piazzale Roma is the only place in Venice that can be reached by car or bus.

To reach Piazzale Roma from Canova Airport we suggest you take ATVO Line 351. The cost of the ticket is €12 one-way or €22 round trip. The bus takes approx. 70 minutes from the airport to the bus stop in “Piazzale Roma”.

Where can you catch an ATVO bus?

From the airport: in Via Noalese, to the right of the airport exit.

Where can you buy an ATVO ticket?

  • at the ticket office in the arrivals hall on the ground floor of the Treviso Airport terminal building
  • directly on board the bus.

The taxi service at Treviso Airport is provided by Radio Taxi Treviso (https://taxitreviso.it/radio-taxi/).

GETTING TO VENICE BY TRAIN

The Venice railway station is “Venezia Santa Lucia”.

Where can you purchase train tickets?

  • at the train station      
  • online, directly from the Trenitalia or Italo websites

How can you reach the Treviso train station?

From Treviso airport, you can reach the “Treviso Centrale” train station by taxi (see instructions above), or by public bus.

The bus company in Treviso is MOM Spa. From the airport you can take the “TREVISO AIRLINK BUS”. The bus takes approximately 10 minutes from the airport to the city center. Tickets are €5 (valid for 2 days) or €7 (valid for 3 days). You can purchase tickets either on the bus or through the bus company’s app (search for “Mom Up”).

GETTING AROUND VENICE

WATER PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

There are City Centre lines, that cross Venice mostly using the waterways of the Grand Canal (Canal Grande) and the Giudecca Canal (line 2). They leave from Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma and go as far as the Lido (line 1, 5.1, 5.2, 7). There are also connections around the external lagoon perimeter of the city (line 2). City circle lines go as far as Murano (lines- 3, 4.1, 4.2). Timetables and maps of the lives can be found on VeneziaUnica.it

Water bus (vaporetto) tickets

One way ticket is €7.50. You can purchase tourist tickets (for 1, 2, 3, or 7 days) from the Venezia Unica website, or once you have arrived in Venice. The all-inclusive tickets include all the navigation lines.

PRIVATE WATER TAXI SERVICE

You can arrange a private boat for fast transfers in Venice. Water taxi costs depend on your final destination. For more details on the rate that will be applied, ask the staff in charge before booking or boarding the vehicle.
