Oleksandra Savchenko is a Full Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor. She is the founder and leader of the modern Ukrainian scientific school of primary education didactics, author of the textbooks for younger schoolchildren, manuals for primary school teachers, pedagogical universities textbooks. The Typical Educational Programmes for 1-2 and 3-4 grades developed under the leadership of Oleksandra Savchenko are under implementation within the New Ukrainian School reform. She is the leading scholar in the area of the competence-based education, making contribution to the substantiation of the transversal key competences with focus on “Learning to Learn” one. She has made a significant input to the development of the strategic vision of the Ukrainian education, formation of its legal framework, elaboration of the State Standards of General Secondary Education.
