The Role of School Administration in Activating the English Language Club in Government Schools and in the Southern Governates of Palestine from the Viewpoint of English Language Teachers

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of the school administration in activating the English language club in government schools and ways to develop it in the southern governorates of Palestine.

The researcher followed both the descriptive analytical approach and the qualitative approach, and the study sample consisted of (257) male and female teachers of English in the government schools in the southern governorates of Palestine, representing approximately (35%) of the study population. The participating teachers were chosen by the stratified random method according to the variable of gender. The questionnaire  and interview were the data collection tools.

Among the most important findings of the study are the following:

  1. The study sample’s estimate of the degree to which the school administration practices its role in activating the English language club in government schools in the southern governorates of Palestine from the viewpoint of English language teachers obtained a high degree 
  2. There are no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average of the study sample’s estimates of the role of the school administration in activating the English language club in the administrative and educational fields due to the variable of the teacher’s gender. 
  3. There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between the average of the study sample’s estimates of the role of the school administration in activating the English language club due to the variables of the teacher’s academic qualification, .
