Dr. Akram is a Ph.D. holder in urban planning and design, from Universiti Putra Malaysia, in 2021 and has an M.Sc. degree (2017) in the same field of study, and a B.Sc. degree in Architectural Engineering from Cihan University, Kurdistan region-Iraq in 2014. He is a specialist in the Conservation Management of Historic Cities, having more than 25 publications belonging to the preservation of historic cities and heritage smart. Since 2016, he is working as a Private Researcher at Alcácer do Sal City Hall, Portugal. From 2015 to 2021, he focused on “Conservation Management Plan: Documentation, Framework, and Recommendations to Arab District, Erbil City, Iraq”, highlighting the gap between legislation (National Policy of Iraq N.55 of 2002 & Local policy of Kurdistan region N.08 of 2008) and practical applications toward the preservation of cultural properties in Iraq. In 2019, he joined as a member of ICOMOS Portugal and worked as an external reviewer for the 2020 World Monuments Watch (WMW); Reviewer for the ICOMOS GA 2020 Scientific Symposium; Desk Reviewer for World Heritage Nominations 2021 & 2023. In 2021, he became a CIPA & CIVVIH member and since 2014, he has joined the Kurdistan Engineers Union, with a licentiate degree. Currently, Dr. Akram is working as a senior researcher and Assistant Professor at Instituto Politécnico de Beja (Portugal), and he developed his expertise on ONDAS Framework Across Multiple Disciplines and Innovative Research Methodologies. Also, he became Main Supervisor and Co-Supervisor for Postgraduate Theses, as well as Co-Founder of ONDAS Group and COO at Apina’s Foundation. Moreover, Dr. Omar is working as a scientific reviewer for IEEE, Emerald, and IEREK Publication. Furthermore, he becomes an editorial board member of "The Environmental Research Journal". Dr. Akram’s awards and honors include second place, out of ninety-four students graduating on architectural engineering, in 2014. Moreover, he has achieved two more certifications GOT "Graduate On Time"  in 2017 and 2021. In addition, in 2019, he was awarded the prize of the significance of scientific publications by the International Union of Creators in Iraq
