Bio

Currently working as casual academic on strategic uni-wide Enhancing Courses Project 2021 team at University of Technology Sydney. From 2004-2020 was employed Medical education academic in the Office of Medical Education in UNSW Medicine, University of New South Wales, Sydney. Rachel designed, convened and lectured in Quality of Medical Practice (EBM and Quality & Safety in Medicine).Her educational research focuses on threshold concepts in learning, teaching and learning of critical thinking, evidence-based medicine, numeracy in medicine and science, and the effectiveness of blended learning. In October 2019 she was awarded a PhD with the School of Education, UNSW for her thesis is entitled: “A Vygotskian exploration of medical students critical thinking in threshold concept liminal spaces .”She is PhD co-supervisor at Western Sydney University: PhD student Faraz Khurshid, Medicine Faculty, research entitled: Threshold concepts guided approach to teaching, learning and assessment of Pharmacology.
