Leading researcher of the Department of Civil Defense and Innovation  in SI “IEG NAS of Ukraine”, Doctor of Public Administration Valeriia Kovach (1988 year of birth). Graduated in 2011 from the National Aviation University, Faculty of Environmental Safety and received a full higher education in "Ecology and Environmental Protection" and qualified as an ecologist, an expert in ecology with a master's degree. Since 2011 V. Kovach is actively engaged in scientific activities in such areas as: development of information technology for environmental monitoring of man-made objects; mathematical modeling of environmental pollution; solving urgent problems of civil protection of territories, environment and population; solving current problems of ecologically safe and sustainable functioning of nuclear energy facilities of Ukraine; rehabilitation and remediation of areas contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides and radionuclides Valeriia Kovach is the author of 125 scientific works, including 6 monographs, 2 scientific and methodical manuals, 71 articles, 46 conference proceedings, has 12 acts of implementation of the scientific results; Laureate of the Ye. Kulish Prize in 2015 (SI “IEG NAS of Ukraine”); Fellowship of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2014-2016); Stipend of the President of Ukraine for young scientists (2018); received the Award of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "Talent, inspiration, work" (2018); Winner of the President of Ukraine Award for Young Scientists (2018); Laureate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Prize for the most talented young scientists in the field of basic and applied research and scientific and technical developments for 2019 (2020); in 2020 received a letter of acknowledgment from the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for significant personal contribution to support the scientific activities of young scientists of the NAS of Ukraine, comprehensive assistance in realizing their creative potential and active participation in events to promote scientific achievements among schoolchildren and students. V. Kovach carries out active international scientific activity, in particular, since 2014 she is an expert of FAO, since 2015 she is a project coordinator in Ukraine from the Blacksmith Institute (New York, USA). Since 2011 has been actively involved in various international programs and projects, in particular: the 7th Framework Program of the EC (2011-2013), NATO grants "Science for Peace" (2014-2017, 2017-2019, 2021–2023), Horizon 2020 projects (2016–2018, 2018), individual grant applications from the German Radiation Protection Office and the Blacksmith Institute (New York, USA). Has a total experience of international internships of more than 2.5 years.
