Bio

David W. Stewart is the President’s Professor of Marketing and Business Law in the College of Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has previously served as a tenured member of the faculty and in various administrative roles at Vanderbilt University, the University of Southern California, and the University of California, Riverside. David has authored/co-authored over 300 publications and 20 books, including A Primer on Consumer Behavior: A Guide for Managers, The Impact of Risk Communication on Consumption and Consumer Well-being, and Financial Dimensions of Marketing Decisions among others. He is a past Editor of Journal of Marketing, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing. He is a past-president of the Academic Council of the American Marketing Association, a past chairman of the Section on Statistics in Marketing of the American Statistical Association, a past president of the Society for Consumer Psychology and a Fellow of the American Marketing Association, the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science. He has also served as Vice President for Publications and Vice President for Finance of the American Marketing Association. He is the founding chair of the Marketing Accountability Standards Board. Dr. Stewart’s research has examined a wide range of issues including marketing strategy, the analysis of markets, consumer information search and decision making, effectiveness of marketing communications, public policy issues related to marketing and methodological approaches to the analysis of marketing data. Dr. Stewart has been awarded the American Marketing Association’s Award for Lifetime Contributions to Marketing and Public Policy, the Elsevier Distinguished Marketing Scholar Award by the Society for Marketing Advances and the Cutco/Vector Distinguished Marketing Education Award by the Academy of Marketing Science.  He has also received the American Academy of Advertising Award for Outstanding Contributions to Advertising Research for his long-term contributions to research in advertising. He is the recipient of the Chinese Scholar Marketing Association Fellow Award for Outstanding Contribution to Marketing Scholarship in China and Beyond and the Ingolstadt Legacy Award for Business and Economics in Service of Humanity, Awarded by City of Ingolstadt and Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. Dr. Stewart has served as a consultant to a broad range of business, government and not–for–profit organizations and has offered expert witness testimony before the Federal Trade Commission and in various Federal and State Courts. He has taught executive education courses in more than 20 countries on five continents.
