Bio Dr. Tamara Hovorun, PhD., Professor Psychology is a tradition in my family – I became a psychologist following my father’s footsteps and now my daughter is continuing the trend. I graduated with honors from the Department of Psychology at Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv, Ukraine. I later worked at Kostyuk Institute of Psychology as a researcher and a head of a laboratory. At the same time I taught psychology courses, including psychology of sex and sexuality, at Drahomanov National Pedagogical University. For the last 14 years I taught social psychology and related courses at the Department of Law and Social Sciences at John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin, Poland. I participated in several scientific conferences organized by the United Nations as an expert on gender and gender issues, and women’s and girls’ rights. I co-authored such publications as The International Encyclopedia of Sexuality (Ed. Robert Francoeur) and the international collective monograph "All About love" (Ed. Leo Borm). My research interests are in applied social psychology and gender psychology, specifically self-presentation of men and women in private and social life, the influence of gender stereotypes on the self-image, behavior and relationships of the sexes, especially among the youth. My recent teaching experience was enriched by being a visiting professor at O.P. Jindal Global University Institute of Behavioral Sciences in Haryana, India. My life’s credo is “psychology humanizes the world!” |
