In 1974 graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Electricity. Specialty: Cybernetics of Electrical Systems, qualified as an Electrical Engineer. Defended a thesis on Specialty “Power stations, networks, and systems“in 1981 and received a Ph.D. in Engineering Science, defended his Dr. Sci. thesis on Specialty 01.05.02. - “Mathematical Simulation and Methods of Calculation” in 2021 and received a degree of Doctor of Engineering Sciences.

V. Gurieeiv is engaged in scientific activities in such areas as ICT in education and fundamental research of theory, methods of constructing and analyzing mathematical models and algorithms for modeling objects of electric power engineering based on the achievements of theoretical electrical engineering and computing methods. He has published many papers in international journals and monographs, is an expert on CIGRE.
