Olena Volik, Post-Doctoral Fellow, Department of Geography, University of Waterloo, Canada. Olena received her Candidate of Sciences (Geography) degree at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine) in 2006 and PhD degree at the University of Waterloo (Canada) in 2018. Currently, Olena‘s research focus is on wetland ecohydrology in the Athabasca Oil Sands Region (Canada). Other research interests include carbon sequestration in natural saline wetlands, paleolimnological and paleoecological reconstructions of natural and anthropogenic environmental changes, travertine deposition. Olena’s research results are represented in more than 15 articles in international indexed peer-reviewed journals. Also, she is co-authoring several monographs, manuals, handbooks, and government reports. Olena is a reviewer at Science of the Total Environment (Elsevier), Hydrological Processes (Wiley), Journal of Paleolimnology (Springer), and a member of the Canadian Geophysical Union.
