Elena Shimkovich, born in 1983, received a Candidate of Biological Sciences degree from the I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukraine, in 2012. Since 2013, she has been working at the Kazan (Volga region) Federal University. In 2018 she received the academic title "Associate Professor" in the specialty "Zoology". Her research interests include malacology, hydrobiology, parasitology, pedagogy.
