Yevhenii Yakovliev works as a Chief Research Scientist for the Department of Natural Resources at the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. For the last twenty-five years, his scientific interests focused on ecological geological problems of the post-mining stage within Donbas and others objects of mineral resources extraction. He elaborated on two new mathematical equations for the determination of coalmines flooding regime and its prognoses time.

Since 2015, he has been cooperating his researches in Donbas problem with the Centre of Humanitarian Dialogue (Geneva) including the field expedition in coalmines regions.
