Bio

I work as Professor at the Faculty of Education and Culture.

I lead the research collective RESET (Research Engagement for Sustainable and Equitable Transformations) which I established in 2018. RESET develops and brings into use conceptual tools and interventionist methodologies from cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT) to foster participatory analyses of major societal challenges and contribute to the learning sciences and to studies of collective agency. RESET’s Change Laboratory and CHAT research in fields related to the eradication of homelessness and to other enacted utopias for equity and sustainability are attracting national and international attention and are consolidating the collaboration with numerous organizations at the local, city-level and national level both in Finland and abroad.

In August 2024 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, I was elected President of the International Society for Cultural-historical Activity Research (ISCAR) (2024-2027). For the period 2024-2027 I was also elected Coordinator for the ISCAR Nordic-Baltic Region
