Bio Dr Tiina Ikäheimo has comprehensive knowledge in the area of environmental temperatures, human performance and health complemented with research related to exercise and health. Her experience includes branches of science, such as public, environmental and occupational health and covering both physiological and epidemiological studies. Her current research interests focus on the effects of extreme temperature and climate change on human health. Specifically, this includes both identifying susceptible populations, as well as understanding the underlying causal mechanisms increasing their vulnerability to weather. Dr. Ikäheimo has worked as consultant in the area of cold temperatures and human health, as well as having produced information material together with WHO experts. She is currently the vice-director of the WHO Collaborating Center on Global Change, Environment and Public Heath lead by the Center for Environmental and Respiratory Health Research (CERH) at the University of Oulu in Finland.
