Title: Security-aware data provenance : Can I trust the data I see?
Abstract: While integrity and appraisal of records have always been considered important, existing standards and security discussions are missing some essential perspectives, in particular with respect to cybersecurity. Digital technology, aggregation and processing in a large scale and complex steps, such as machine learning-based systems, have fundamentally increased the complexity of understanding provenance of data. Provenance graphs have been suggested as a mechanism to document the origins of data records. While these can provide valuable information, these graphs do not convey information on the risk of data to be maliciously falsified and manipulated. This talk explores how security-aware provenance might add some of the missing cybersecurity factors to recordkeeping and discusses some of the challenges in this area.

Title: Sustainable Innovation in Digital Libraries: Perspectives from NUS Libraries
Abstract: Digital libraries play an increasingly pivotal role in addressing challenges related to sustainability, including but not limited to: ensuring that data remains accessible and usable to communities, minimising energy consumption, addressing DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) issues, and managing financial feasibility. In this talk, I will highlight key initiatives and innovations at NUS Libraries aimed at reducing the carbon footprints of our digital projects, as well as how digital collections are used to foster community engagement. For librarians and educators alike, the talk aims to provide key guiding principles in developing sustainable digital libraries that are beneficial to both communities and the environment.

Title: Finding the socio-structural in the personal: Ecological models of information behavior
Abstract: With the world being increasingly connected physically and digitally and the rising occurrences of extreme events such as climate disasters reverberating across the globe, individuals and their environments are more intertwined than ever. This adds new significance to the "agency versus structure" question. To what extent and in what ways do broader socio-structural and environmental mechanisms empower or constrain different human information behaviors? Uncovering answers on this front will not only add to our knowledge and literature. It also has salient policy and design implications, pinpointing the zone of interventions for addressing problematic information behavior. In this talk, we will examine the ecological and multi-level models in information behavior research and discuss the methodological and analytical plans of such studies. Potent areas for further research will be explored.
