DEMAND2016: WHAT ENERGY IS FOR: THE MAKING AND DYNAMICS OF DEMAND
Welcome to DEMAND2016

Welcome to the DEMAND Centre Conference 'What energy is for: the making and dynamics of demand'.  The conference is intended to extend and deepen research on the making and dynamics of energy demand through sharing perspectives and research outcomes and debating questions of theory, method and analysis. The conference will primarily provide an arena for academic exchange and discussion, although how academic research intersects with the worlds of policy and practice will constantly be in view.

The conference is organised into a series of workshops run by convenors from the DEMAND Centre which is a collaboration across 12 Universities and with a main research partner of EDF R&D based in Paris.  Convenor teams also include other colleagues who have been visitors at the DEMAND Centre. The workshops follow different speaker, presentation and discussion formats. Written versions of papers are available for nearly all presentations from the DEMAND website (use the password previously notified to access these).

In addition to the workshops there are three plenary debates, an 'infrastructural walkshop', special workshop session on methodologies and practice theory, a photo competition, a display of posters from PhD students and from DEMAND Centre work and an evening meal and social at the Lancaster Brewery on Thursday evening,  In the final plenary we will also get some anthropological insights on the Conference experience... Hopefully much to keep you busy, intellectually engaged and challenged, as well as lots of time for discussion, interaction and fun!

We hope you enjoy your visit to the University and to the City of Lancaster
