EUNIS 2025: Editor's Preface

Dear readers

It is our pleasure to present to you the proceedings of the 31st Annual EUNIS Congress that was hosted on 4-6 June 2025 by the University of Ulster in Belfast, UK.

EUNIS is the European University Information Systems organisation. Its mission is to help member institutions develop their information technology landscape by sharing knowledge and experience and by working together. Learn more on our web site www.eunis.org.

The EUNIS Congress is a comprehensive event designed for higher education professionals focused on digital transformation. The daily agenda features a mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and concurrent sessions with contributions from experts across Europe and beyond. In addition to delivering technical insights, the EUNIS Congress is also a unique opportunity for the attendees to connect, exchange and get inspired by peers.

The topic for EUNIS 2025 was Connecting Communities and Empowering Creativity.

The program included contributions in the following tracks:

  1. Governance, policy and strategy
  2. Information systems and digital transformation
  3. Learning, teaching and research

In addition to these topics, each day included a unique thematic track designed to inspire and offer fresh perspectives on key areas of innovation.

These special tracks went beyond the standard topics to highlight real-world examples of how digital transformation is reshaping higher education. For the EUNIS 2025 Congress, the themes were:

  • Shaping the future of education: Focusing on innovation in healthcare
  • Creative industries and educational excellence: Exploring innovation in the digital age
  • Building inclusive and resilient digital communities in higher education

Following the recommendation of the congress Scientific Committee, 85 submissions (46 full scientific papers and 39 session proposals) were accepted for oral presentation and panel discussions. In addition, invited presentations were given by 6 keynote speakers.

Based on the reviewers recommendations, a selection of 39 papers was made by the Scientific Committee to establish the present proceedings, published in the EasyChair EPIC Series indexed by Scopus.

EUNIS 2025 is very grateful to all the authors and the reviewers / members of the EUNIS 2025 Scientific Committee.
