10 pagesDate: February 21, 2023

Abstract

Inventory management is a crucial aspect of healthcare industry, particularly in emergency scenarios such as pandemics. This paper aims to provide an overview of inventory management in healthcare, focusing on the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study examines the management of inventory in both Deterministic and Probabilistic Demand scenarios and discusses various techniques and methods to find the most efficient and cost-effective solution. The methods discussed include Economic Order Quantity, Mathematical Optimization Models, Stochastic Programming, and Metaheuristics. The objective is to provide guidance in finding an inventory management approach that considers both budget constraints and limited resources. The findings of this study can inform future inventory planning for healthcare organizations in the face of infectious diseases.

Keyphrases: Deterministic demand, Healthcare Industry, Inventory Management, optimization models, Probabilistic demand, stochastic demand
