Download PDFOpen PDF in browserThe Teaching of Basic Sciences from Higher Education in Iztapalapa: a Solution to the SDGs.EasyChair Preprint 113887 pages•Date: November 26, 2023AbstractThe educational field plays a significant role in achieving Goal 4, which aims to ensure quality education, as part of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals in the 2030 Agenda. The peer teaching approach strengthens collaboration among students, fostering interactive and meaningful learning. Simultaneously, the competency-based educational model focuses on developing practical skills and real-world applicable knowledge, with a holistic perspective promoting comprehensive education encompassing both hard and soft skills. The School Emergency Plan and Peer Mentoring Program are implemented as two academic intervention strategies for basic, upper-secondary, and higher education levels, led by the National Technological Institute of Mexico, Campus Iztapalapa III. These initiatives aim to enhance meaningful learning in basic sciences through guidance based on problem-solving exercises, provided by students from the institution's three different programs in Iztapalapa, CDMX. Results obtained from January to June 2022 to August to December 2023 have been satisfactory, demonstrating an improvement in the academic level of participating students.
