Need to Build a Water River Tourism Information System for Tourism Students in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

In recent times, information technology has been developing very fast in the world, affecting directly all areas of human life. Information system has become a major subject that introduced by many universities. In the field of training, an information system is a knowledge system that is scientifically collected, processed, stored and distributed. For the disciplines of the social sciences majors such as: Cultural Studies, Vietnamese Studies, Tourism Studies... the content of information and knowledge is diverse, accurate, presented and rationally arranged. Many subjects have been taught to students of the Faculty of Tourism-Vietnam Studies at Universities in the city, but the content and form of training in each school is different, but there is a common point: Teaching information has not been digitized, academic uniformity, not updated regularly. In addition, through practical teaching, we find that tourism students lack many input information to support their majors, especially information about the description of the tourism route, especially at the tourist destinations such as river tourism. Ho Chi Minh City is the largest economic, cultural, and educational center in the country, converging many natural tourism resources, especially river tourism resources. Numerous students majors tourism here at many different levels. This is the reason for the author to conduct a research survey on the need to build an information system on Saigon river tourism to serve students in the tourism industry of Ho Chi Minh City.
