Abstract

 The vortex gravity system has a main component consisting of a tube which then produces a whirlpool, and a water tank as the main source of water storage. Outlet holes in the tube have 4 sizes, 12, 9, 6, 3 cm in each tube size. The size of the tube has 3 sizes namely 35, 30, 25 cm. This research is based on experimental tests to determine the performance of the flow at the diameter of the tube outlet against the formation of vortex on vortex tubes. From several studies that have existed the type of outlet hole in this tube has not been thoroughly studied. From the results of the division can be seen differences in the results of each output hole size on. Given this problem, this study was conducted aiming to determine the strength of the vortex of the parameters to be sought namely Water Flow Discharge (m3 / s), velocity (m / s), Total Head Air (m). Vortex system at the laboratory scale, looking at previous studies varying the diameter of the vortex tube and the tube outlet tube, this study examines the effect of the difference (ratio) on the diameter of the vortex tube and the outlet hole of the tube. From the calculation of the vortex strength at the 35cm outlet hole, the vortex strength results are 60.28 m2 / s; 42.39 m2 / s; 30.14 m2 / s; 14.13 m2 / s. After that the calculation continued at the 30cm outlet hole results obtained vortex strength of 56.52 m2 / s; 45.21m2 / s; 28.26 m2 / s; 12.24 m2 / s. Furthermore, the calculation at the outlet hole shows that the strength of the vortex is 52.75 m2 / s; 45.21 m2 / s; 22.60 m2 / s; 7.53 m2 / s. Tides in the strength of the vortex are caused by the energy available in the extracted water flow after it hits an outlet hole in the vortex tube.
