The diameter ratio of two circular cylinders, D1/D2 varies from 0.5 to 1.5, and spacing ratio (L/D2) varies from 1.5 to 10, whereas the Reynolds number of 100 is considered. The numerical model is well validated by comparing the results with those obtained in the literature. Flow regimes are observed, including two vortex shedding modes (two-layered and primary vortex). Furthermore, the flow characteristics depend significantly on the diameter ratio of two circular cylinders. The drag coefficient increases with an increase in D1/D2 while the Strouhal number generally decreases with increasing D1/D2. Additionally, the maximum CʹL obtained is at L/D2 = 5.0. The results obtained are very useful for many applications, such as tube bundles of heat exchangers, offshore risers, and pipe racks.
