Sample is made up by 15 students from the Specialization Program in Translation and Interpreting at the Autonomous University of Baja California. For the evaluation of the ES, participants of this study were asked to take the Basic Skills and Knowledge Examination (EXHCOBA by its acronym in Spanish) used to regulate admission to higher education level. As regards TS evaluation, students solved a subtitling exercise, in which they were asked to translate various video clips with varied themes in direct and indirect direction with the Spanish and English language pair. Once the data corresponding to the measurement of the sub competencies in question has been obtained, these variables are correlated through Pearson Coefficient. Results show that a higher level of extralinguistic knowledge, students show a higher performance and weighting in translation projects. Keyphrases: Subcompetencias, Traductología, subtitulación
