Distribution of Neighbourhood Size in Cities

EasyChair Preprint no. 6046

21 pagesDate: July 11, 2021

Abstract

We find that distribution of neighborhood sizes in cities follows exponential decay and explain this using a computational model of neighborhood dynamics, where agent movement is mediated by wealth. The use of a comparative wealth-based metric by agents combined with affordability thresholds appear necessary conditions for emergence of exponential decay.
