Abstract

Virtual Reality is one of the technology which aid the surgeons to perform even the most complicated surgeries successfully. But in virtual reality, it is employed to carry out operations the surgeon’s attention is one of the most important parameter. If there is any mistakes it may lead to a dangerous end. So, introduce the alternative technology, which reduces the burdens of a surgeon by providing an efficient interaction to the surgeon than VR. Now our dream came to reality by means of a technology called “HAPTIC TECHNOLOGY”.

This technology is mainly used in the following areas such as creating virtual objects, controlling virtual objects or in the improvement of the remote control of machines and devices. The word “haptikos” means a “sense of touch”. The main concept of this paper we have discussed the concepts behind haptic along with the haptic devices and how these devices are interacted to produce sense of touch and force feedback mechanisms. As wellas the implementation of this by means of haptic rendering and contact detection were discussed.

This paper mainly focus on ‘Application of Haptic Technology in Surgical Simulation and Medical Training’. Further explained the storage and retrieval of haptic data while working with haptic devices. And also the necessity of haptic data compression is illustrated.

Keyphrases: 3D simulators, and Stationary device, Exoskeletons, Keywords— Haptics, Phantom
