Hybrid Invasive Weed Optimization - Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for Biomass/PV Micro-grid Power System

Abstract

Using agricultural waste is a stable source of biomass for generating energy. Model analysis for a hybrid biomass-PV micro-grid was carried out in this study. The model analysis showed that it has the ability to meet the requirement of the power demands of combined irrigation and a domestic load of a fruits farm in Egypt. In this paper, an efficient hybridization of two metaheuristic algorithms, namely Invasive Weed Optimization (IWO) and the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), has been proposed. this new algorithm is called (HIWO/PSO) which was applied to obtain the optimal sizing of the system. The total net present cost (TNPC), the loss of power supply probability (LPSP) and excess energy fraction (EEF) have been applied as an indicator to estimate the competitiveness of the introduced micro-grid
