Abstract

The 3D character development process is long, heavy and requires a high level of professional skills. One of the most important and labor-intensive stage of production is texturing, the quality of which has the most effect on the final visual result. For today, traditional approaches require from the developer a lot of time, resources and high-professional skills for making a high-quality tex-ture for a 3D character model. To solve this problem, in this paper propose an approach with using the textures maps complex. This complex includes a set of prepared and divided into segments textures of different types (diffuse, specular, displacement, bump, SSS). It allows to get various visual results on the same 3D model geometry. The structure and implementation of the proposed approach are described, and the results of experimental research are presented. It allows to simplify the texture stage, eliminating the need to process raw textures.
