The Quality, Statistics, and Reliability (QSR) cluster of Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) is inviting QSR student members to participate at the Student Introduction and Interaction session and the Best Student Poster Competition at INFORMS Annual Meeting 2017.
The Student Introduction and Interaction Session is designed for QSR student members to get acquainted with each other, promote themselves in front of our community, and learn from invited guests. In this session, each student will be given two minutes to deliver an elevator speech about his/her research interests and accomplishments; senior QSR members and guests will be invited to interaction with all attendees.
A parallel Best Student Poster Competition will be hold at the same room. Students are encouraged to prepare poster presentations to have better exposure. All posters will enter the competition automatically. A winner will be selected by a panel of judges, announced at the QSR business meeting, and awarded a certificate.
All speakers and poster presenters will be included in printed brochures; the brochures will be distributed to all attendees and possibly among the QSR community. Invitations to this session will be sent to department chairs and employers that have interests in recruiting QSR students.
The session is usually scheduled on the first day of the conference (Sunday) at slot B. More specifically, student poster exhibition starts at 10:00am at the session room; all are welcomed to arrive earlier to interact with the students. The Introduction and Interaction session formally starts at 11:00am. A lunch gathering near the session room for student members and invited guests with tickets starts at 12:30pm. The student poster exhibition continuous until 1:00pm.
Many thanks to our session sponsors! The lunch gathering is free to registered students and invited guests.
