Abstract registration deadline | July 7, 2018 |
Submission deadline | July 7, 2018 |
Paper submission guidelines:
To be considered for a presentation, authors must submit a paper detailing the work to be presented. Papers should be a minimum of 2 pages (inclu. references) and a maximum of 3 pages (plus up to 1 page of references). Submission deadline is July 7th, 2018.
Submissions must be in pdf format and submitted through EasyChair.
These papers will be peer-reviewed and decisions about acceptance will be made by July 27th. Authors will receive the reviews and will have the opportunity to revise their papers with the resulting manuscript being no more than 4 pages (including references.) Revisions will not receive further review.
Accepted papers will result in poster presentations. A few highly-ranked papers will be invited to give spotlight presentations.
Authors may choose to include their accepted papers in the conference proceedings. Papers included in the proceedings will be citable with a DOI. Authors will maintain copyright of the proceedings papers.
Why is a paper required rather than just an abstract?
Climate Informatics aims to bring together researchers from multiple communities. In some communities (e.g., computer science), refereed conference proceedings are currency, and it is important for authors to obtain a citable proceedings paper. In other disciplines (e.g., climate science, statistics), conference proceedings do not count for much and researchers are more incentivized to produce journal publications.
We require a paper submission for two reasons: (1) it puts all submissions on a (more) equal playing field, and (2) it makes producing a refereed proceedings format easier. However, even though authors retain copyright, it can be more difficult to publish work in a journal if it has already appeared in a conference proceedings. Therefore we do give authors the options to have their accepted paper excluded from the workshop proceedings, although we hope that most of you will choose to have your papers included.
