Data Science for Social Network Analysis: Methods, Advances and Applications
Edited by Victor Hugo C. de Albuquerque, Utku Kose, Akash Kumar Bhoi
to be published by IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology)
With the advent of the World Wide Web, all kinds of social and business communications heavily rely on social media to carry out day to day dealings. Initially, social media environments were used for conventional communications. As communication technologies prevailed, social media applications have allowed users a wider scope for undertaking data-intensive tasks. A seamless social media environment mobilizes massive amounts of real-time critical data. The spontaneous use of intense multimedia with easy accessibility to the vast data mart can become overwhelming to data managers and social network engineers in terms of content, space and complexity. When today’s social media environment is considered, the complexity is not just because of the data itself but the connectivity between communities. It is essential to analyze such data using in-depth data analysis approaches, methods, and techniques. The more personal information and actions are shared via social media channels, the more it encourages the analysis of users’ interests and behaviours using mathematical and artificial intelligence-based intelligent inferencing systems.
This book will cover the latest research advancements, trends, methods, techniques and future insights in the use of Data Science for Social Network Analysis. Topics include predictive efforts, sentimental analysis, social bots and chatbots, detection of community formations and data collection ethics.
