Innovation is commonly considered as a peak of success factors in the extremely competitive economy, especially in this changing world. There is lack review papers that discuss the relationships between innovation adoption and project performance by determining the impacts of innovation adoption on  project performance.  However, This paper aims to understand the effect of innovation adoption on project performance by providing a literature review for the relationships between innovation adoption and project performance by determining the impacts of innovation adoption types on project performance based on a systematic review of previously published studies. The results enhance understanding of the significance of innovation adoption in the project management context. Further, the present study could be contributing to increasing awareness of the role of innovation adoption in enhance project performance.
