Abstract:
Abstract: Introduction: Interpersonal relationships and humanization are increasingly gaining importance in the context of healthcare education. Universities envision clowning as a way to provide the students with the development of socio-emotional skills that are often underestimated in traditional education. In literature, we find the importance of students experiencing the art of clowns and how it influences their daily activities and improving relationships. The opportunity to experience the clown during their training can positively impact the lives of these professionals. Objective: To understand the experience of healthcare professionals participating in an extension project on clown training during graduation and its repercussions on their personal life. Methods: a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, where 19 healthcare professionals participate as undergraduates in an extension project called “Narizes de Plantão”. The data collected from this work was obtained through semi-structured audio-video-recordings and analyzed using Qualitative Content Analysis, with Symbolic Interactionism as a theoretical framework. After extensive work exploring the recordings, the data was codified, and similar codes were grouped into categories. Results: Five categories were identified: "Wanting to help others", "Transforming yourself through self-knowledge”, “Not being able to let go of the clown”, “Believing that everyone can benefit from the clown experience” and “It is difficult to leave the relationship with Narizes de Plantão". Conclusion: Clowning proved to be a powerful tool for self-knowledge, motivational, and transformational, helping in the unfolding of the self-being, consequently, helping in educational and care processes, especially in the healthcare area.
