The autonomous movement of a car in a structured environment is possible based on a map, with the location of the vehicle by GPS and a destination specified by a user or by the vehicle management system [1]. LIDAR sensors are essential for autonomous vehicles to detect other vehicles or obstacles on the road. Controlling the movement of self-driving vehicles is an important aspect of the development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), for people and goods safety [2], [3]. The estimation of distances is very similar to the perception of distances through binocular vision in humans and using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques can optimize it [4]. In this paper, we simulate controlling the movement of an autonomous vehicle on a lane of the road using MATLAB program. We discuss the results for different time values when obstacles occurs in front of the vehicle.
