In Costa Rica, according to the 2025 State of the Nation report, the educational system suffered a 40-year setback in investment due to a budget cut of nearly 150 million CRC ($331 million USD), affecting 19% of the budget for equity programs such as scholarships and school cafeterias. Amid this landscape, where scientific knowledge often remains confined to academia, Quantum Quarks emerges. Since 2023, the organization has worked to democratize and decentralize knowledge through workshops and accessible digital content. To date, it has impacted over 4000 youth in critical regions such as Coto Brus, San Carlos, and the Ngäbe-Buglé territory, expanding its reach across Latin America through virtual channels. Its goal is to guarantee a humanistic and intersectional STEAM education that inspires young people to use comprehensive training as a driver of innovation, human development, and social transformation within their communities. Quantum Quarks leverages digital platforms to expand scientific literacy. On Instagram, it has reached over 105 800 accounts and exceeded 300 600 views, primarily among youth aged 18 to 24, predominantly Latin American women. In addition, its outreach strategy extends to Telegram to share open calls, workshops, and STEAM scholarships, as well as YouTube with recorded lectures and academic sessions. Beyond the digital realm, the organization has reached over 4000 people in educational programs through direct interventions and strategic alliances. This includes more than 850 participants in proprietary activities and over 1000 beneficiaries through partnerships with entities such as IEEE. The synergy between its virtual ecosystem and grassroots initiatives consolidates this model to decentralize science and build a more accessible, inclusive academic environment in the region.
