The advancement of technology and equipment’s offered many possibilities to simplify the construction process. One of the most relevant areas to utilize the technology is progress monitoring which is needed for project stakeholders to know where they stand in the project and using automated process will offer many potentials for fast decision making. This article offers a mini review of current applications and developments in the automated progress monitoring. It discusses the concepts of Project Progress Monitoring (PPM) , challenges of traditional monitoring and the progress forward automated progress monitoring and methodology. The study found that automating the progress monitoring has helped to improve decision making in term of accuracy and cost effectiveness. Not only that, but also offered platform for timely monitoring of the project progress which then contributes to reduces time overruns and late decision making.
