![]() Title:Mechanical Performance of SIFCON Modified with Hybrid Steel-PVA Powder and PVA Fiber Conference:TMREES26Lb Tags:compressive strength, flexural strength, PVA fiber, PVA powder, steel fiber and tensile strength Abstract: Slurry Infiltration Fiber Concrete (SIFCON) is a high-performance concrete. Achieving a balance between high mechanical performance has encouraged the adoption of hybrid fiber system through the partial replacement of steel fibers with PVA fibers. A hybrid fiber system was developed by partially replacing steel fibers with polyvinyl PVA fibers, while retaining a high steel fiber volume fraction to maintain the mechanical performance of SIFCON. Additionally, PVA powder was used as a partial cement replacement to act as a polymer modifier aiming to improve matrix cementitious performance. The results showed that the combined use of hybrid steel-PVA fibers and PVA powder significantly improved the mechanical performance of SIFCON. The optimum mixture, containing 25% PVA fiber replacement and PVA powder. The findings demonstrate that the hybridization of steel and PVA fibers, along with polymer modification, is an efficient strategy for producing high-performance SIFCON appropriate for applications requiring enhanced strength and crack resistance.
