Social Network Sites (SNS) have become a big part of most people’s daily life. It is important to understand the factors that contribute to self-disclosure on SNS. A dramatic shift has been noticed concerning user privacy, where people’s tendency to disclose information has been increasing. The disclosure of personal information can be very dangerous. This research-in progress aims to propose a conceptual framework that considers the inhibitors and enablers of self-disclosure on SNS. The conceptual framework will be tested via a large-scale survey of teens, students, employees and others. This research-in-progress will help the user to question their online behavior critically in order to protect themselves from oversharing personal information.
