Abstract:
Introduction: The teaching of spiritual care had weaknesses, they did not know its meaning, application, there was confusion with religion, it dissatisfaction due to formation with a positivist model. Objective: To reveal the perception of the meaning of spiritual care from the perspective of the students of the fifth year of studies. Methodology: Qualitative, phenomenological study, with theoretical - philosophical support from Victor Frankl. The random sample, made up 19 students, the selection criteria: satisfactory completion of their studies, desire to participate. An in-depth interview was applied, they were transcribed, the data were analyzed with the empirical model of Amadeo Giorgi, the interpretation from the existentialist perspective of Frankl and Ponty. Results: Three categories emerged: perception of the teaching of spiritual care, experience of the teaching of spiritual care and a future perspective with reflection on formation. Conclusions: The perception of the meaning of spiritual care from the perspective of students is ambiguous, contradictory, deficient; the experience of teaching spiritual care in students was not very rewarding, having limited and non-existent training in most cases; he teaching of spiritual care as a future perspective, demands the use of new pedagogical strategies in students and the training of teaching staff.
