Abstract:
Public safety has become a concern of society due to rising crime rates. In this sense, government spheres seek solutions that reduce the problems caused by violence. One strategy used is community policing, which involves bringing the police closer to the population, starting with the installation of police units in the communities. In this context, this article presents a multicriteria decision support model, which uses PROMETHEE II to allocate these units. The main advantages of using the model are reduced police travel time, increased the level of service provided, better police-community interaction and, consequently, a greater sense of security on the part of the population.
