![]() Title:Product Design 4.0: Strategic Education for Technological Transition in Antioquia-Colombia Authors:Fausto Zuleta-Montoya, Andrés Montoya-Tobón, Erika Imbett-Vargas, Hernán Castaño-Castrillón and Eliana Zapata-Ruiz Conference:TD2026 Tags:Cambio tecnológico, Desarrollo de habilidades, Diseño asistido por ordenador, Diseño industrial, Enseñanza superior and Industria 4.0 Abstract: The Fourth Industrial Revolution has changed the design paradigm and requires the integration of cyber-physical systems into the design of products. Universities in Antioquia do not align with the technological needs of the productive sector. The aim of this research was to determine the feasibility and applicability of establishing advanced technology programs for product development. A mixed descriptive-propositive methodology was applied, triangulating a review of megatrends with surveys of graduates and business owners in the manufacturing sector of Antioquia. The results revealed a skills gap: the lack of qualified professionals in generative design, the Internet of Things, and additive manufacturing hinders competitiveness, despite the willingness to invest in industry. The integration of aesthetic modeling with algorithmic logic and sustainability resulted in the development of four curricular strategies. It has been concluded that there is a need to formalize this postgraduate program to update the professional profile, close the technological gap, and facilitate the transition to a knowledge economy in the region.
