The coating was prepared using the sol-gel method. The volume ratio of the precursors (TEOS, ethanol, and HCl) was kept at 2:5:1.25 at pH levels of 5, 7, and 9. The surface improvement process was done by adding TMCS+hexane with different amounts of TMCS (1, 1.5, and 2 ml). The results indicate that the permeability was higher in transparency and contact angle 153°. BET analysis showed a high surface area at pH 7, suggesting its potential suitability for a wide range of applications, including self-cleaning window technologies. (TGA) analysis for pH 7 showed relatively little weight loss between 25 and 217. The AFM topography indicates that the glass coated with silica aerogel using a thin layer (2TEOS, 2TMCS) exhibited high surface roughness, which facilitated the formation of a superhydrophobic surface.
