Lea Diestelmeier, LL.M. is a researcher at the Groningen Center of Energy Law, University of Groningen. Her research expertise includes EU law in general and in particular EU energy law with a focus on the electricity sector and decentral solutions for the energy transition. Her Ph.D. thesis develops a legal framework which incentivises smart electricity systems. Currently, she is involved in a EU ´Interreg´ project which investigates the implementation of cross-border local energy communities. She finished her Master in European Law with a specialisation in Energy and Climate Law at the University in Groningen. She is bilingual in German and Dutch.
