Bio

Oleksandr Kovalchuk obtained Candidate of Sciences Degree (Engineering) (corresponds to PhD) in 2008 in technology of building materials from the Kiev National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Kiev, Ukraine (PhD Research Topic "Foam Concretes with the Increased Thermal-mechanical Properties Based on Alkaline Portland Cement"). His scientific interests cover the development of new building materials using industrial wastes (in particular, utilization of low-calcium fly ashes), prediction of their durability, design of alkali-activated cement concretes and materials intended for different applications varying from civil engineering to ship- and machine-manufacturing, development of building materials of new generation which would meet the sustainable development requirements (such as, for example, reduced carbon dioxide emissions, waste utilization, natural resources preservation) and others.

Oleksandr Kovalchuk has contributed/ published over 150 articles, papers and reviews in various national and international journals, proceedings of seminars and congress. He heads the investigations in the field of development of fly ash alkali-activated cements and concretes intended for various application.
