Frank Sill Torres holds a diploma and a doctor’s degree in electrical engineering. In 2010, he received a professorship at the Faculty of Engineering at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, which he held until 2018. After working for the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Germany, he is since 2019 with the  German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany, as head of department at the Institute for Protection of Maritime Infrastructures. His current research interests include design for resilience, critical infrastructures and maritime safety and security applications. He is author and co-author of more than 130 scientific publications and two books and holder of two patents. He was member of several conference committees and Associate Researcher of the Brazilian National Research Council.
