My work focuses on the nexus between public policy and community resilience, especially the roles of regulations and regulators in managing complex technological risks in the built environment. I am also involved in issues at the intersetion of the buiIt environment and risk, particulary as it relates to how we manage impacts and vulnerabilities.

I teach in the core curriculum of the MSc in emergency management and John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.
