Bio

Giampiero Lovat was born in Rome. He received the Laurea (cum laude) degree in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in applied electromagnetics from “Sapienza” University of Rome, Rome, Italy, in 2001 and 2005, respectively.

From January 2004 to July 2004, he was a Visiting Scholar with the University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA. In 2005, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, “Sapienza” University of Rome. Since 2015 he is qualified as a Full Professor. His current research interests include general theory and numerical methods for the analysis of periodic structures, electrodynamics of graphene, leaky-wave phenomena, transient electromagnetics, and electromagnetic shielding.

Dr. Lovat received a Young Scientist Award from the 2005 URSI General Assembly, New Delhi, India, and in 2011, he was a recipient of the Best Paper Symposium Award at the 2011 IEEE EMC-S International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility. He is a co-author of a Fast Breaking Paper, October 2007, in electrical engineering and computer science, about metamaterials. In 2020 he has been included in the ranking of the top 2% world scientists published on Plos One. He has coauthored the book Electromagnetic Shielding (IEEE Wiley, 2008).
