Bio Rafael Martinelli is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil, where he leads the Galgos Laboratory for Algorithms and Optimization. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from PUC-Rio and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Groupe d'Études et de Recherche en Analyse des Décisions (GERAD), École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada. His research focuses on combinatorial optimization, mathematical programming, exact and heuristic methods, and optimization under uncertainty, with applications in vehicle routing, scheduling, and resource allocation. He is the maintainer of CVRPLib, one of the leading international repositories for vehicle routing problem benchmark instances, solutions, and competitions. He has authored numerous publications in top operations research and optimization journals and actively collaborates with both academia and industry on the development of advanced decision-support systems. He is a recipient of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) Research Productivity Fellowship. |
