I am a human factors researcher in the Cognitive Engineering Research Group, The Universiity of Queensland. My research investigates auditory displays in medical applications, specifically the pulse oximeter. We have designed and tested, in a series of laboratory and simulator studies, a new auditory display that allows listeners to identiy oxygen saturation parameters more accurately and faster that standard displays. In additon we found that clinicans were able to perform a data entry task more efficiently when using the new display compared with the standartd display.
